Performing “Blues for Gilbert” (Mark Glentworth) at the Isabel Bader Centre (Queens University) for an appearance with the Bridge/Woleck duo

Performing the third movement of David Long’s Concerto for Marimba with the McMaster University Concert Band. Thanks to Joe Resendes (conductor, McMaster Concert Band) for the invitation. It was a pleasure to perform alongside so many of my McMaster students.

One particularly interesting aspect of percussion is our instruments’ commitment to the creation of new music.  Along with my colleague I-Jen Fang, I co-comissioned renowned composer Judith Shatin to write a chamber piece for percussion and oboe when I was on faculty at Longwood University.  I later recorded this with Fang as well as oboist Aaron Hill, which appeared as the title track on her album Time to Burn.

I regularly give lecture-recitals integrating discussion of my research with performance examples.  Click here to view a presentation at University of California, Davis (March 11th, 2016).
